Dr. Daniel Jones is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and total joint replacement. A native of west Michigan, he received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University with Cum Laude distinction. He attended medical school at Columbia University in New York City and was a member of the distinguished Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Jones completed his internship and residency at the University of Utah followed by a one-year orthopaedic sports fellowship at the Taos Orthopaedic Institute in New Mexico. While in Taos, Dr. Jones covered the U.S. National Ski Team Men’s Speed training in La Parva, Chile. He continues to be active in the medical pool in helping cover the U.S. Ski Team.
Because of his athletic background, Dr. Jones understands first-hand his patient’s desire for joint preservation and remaining active. An avid swimmer from a young age, Dr. Jones competed at the collegiate level with the Harvard swim team and on the national level as a member of the Columbia Triathlon Team. In 2014, he won his age group at the Long Course National Triathlon Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Jones has competed in the Salt Lake City Marathon, Boston Marathon, and the ITU Long Course Triathlon World Championships where he finished in the top 10 in his age group. Whether your goal is to continue, return to, or improve your weekend warrior activities, recreational, junior or varsity sports, or even compete at the national or international level, Dr. Jones understands the desire to remain active in any season of life.
Dr. Jones continues to enjoy the great outdoors with his wife and daughter. In his spare time, he can be found hiking, backpacking, trail running, skiing, cycling, and of course, swimming.
